My story

Growing up in a family of artists, I have been surrounded by a world of creativity all my life. I’ve always loved painting and drawing, but I was particularly drawn to pattern from a young age. I developed a love of textiles - printed, woven, stitched - and started collecting traditional fabrics from all over the world. I studied textile design at university and then went on to co-found a fashion brand with my best friend that celebrated innovative textile techniques. After several years of fashion design, and a stint as a product designer, I started a business called called Calypso Print Studio, providing print design services to fashion brands and designers.

After 7 years of running Calypso I decided it was time to simplify; focusing on the art and print design that brings me joy as a freelance designer. That means crafting meaningful, considered collections full of hand-painted details, and embracing the unmistakeably human qualities that make art special. It means caring about quality over quantity, and working with brands that resonate with that philosophy. If that sounds like you too, I’d love to hear from you.

Client Reviews

‘Elly has single handedly elevated the look of our brand. From the start, she has been a dream to work with. We often send her random pictures and color combos. She is able to translate our crazy ideas into beautiful, original prints. We feel so fortunate that we found her and look forward to our partnership for years to come.’

— Ashley, XIX Palms

‘Elly and I recently collaborated on some print designs for my swimwear range. She did a great job of turning my vision into beautiful prints and the process was a breeze’.

- Rosie, Hubble and Duke

‘Working with Elly was Warjiwarlu (deadly)! She was helpful and taught us so much about design and textile prints. She worked with our original artworks done by Juluwarlu artists with respect and professionalism.’
